1-2 pm . Fill the Legislative gallery .

(2071 2nd Ave, Whitehorse, YT)

“Democracy is a form of government in which all eligible citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives.”

One has to ask if our Yukon government (YG) is demonstrating democratic leadership by overriding years of input by the majority of Yukoners who want significant protection in the Peel Watershed.
Oct 23rd, YG announced Peel Consultations have commenced. They are consulting on the Peel Commission’s Final Recommended Plan and 4 of thier own, new plans. Every one of their new proposed options, that they created behind closed doors, allows roads and development of existing (and in some areas new) mining claims and oil and gas allocations.

Yukoner’s Concerned, are also asking if it is democratic to not consult the public on proposed amendments to the YT Oil and Gas Act.

On Opening Day of the Yukon Legislative Assembly,
Yukoner’s Concerned about oil and gas exploration/development,
CPAWS-YT,
the Yukon Conservation Society,
and interested members of the public,
are joining together to send a clear message to our elected representatives that we want democracy back in the Yukon!

We hope to see you there!
